Brading Roman Villa Video

Brading Roman Villa as it may have looked Mid 4th Century AD. The 3D interpretation has been created where possible using archaeological evidence found on site, with gaps in our knowledge being filled in with speculative reconstructions based on evidence from similar sites and other ancient sources. The landscape interpretation is based on modern drone footage, antiquarian maps and geological evidence showing the position of the Villa and its closeness to the ancient estuary.

The Friends of Brading Roman Villa is one of two independent charities working together at this important heritage site. The Oglander Roman Trust (charity no. 1044506) looks after the conservation of the site, the buildings and the staff and The Friends of Brading Roman Villa (charity no. 1110720) help raise funds and provide volunteer help wherever it is needed.

Neither charity is supported except by its own efforts and in close cooperation each works tirelessly to maintain and conserve the Villa site.

The Friends volunteers play a significant role and provide time and skills in an increasing number of areas:

Less noticeable, but absolutely vital, is the behind-the-scenes volunteer activity which makes it all happen. Most of this can be done from home and extra help would be very welcome, particularly volunteers with admin and IT skills.
